Our Final Action

Now we are almost done with our action. Our book idea went better then we thought and we came up with one more idea. We are going to sell some copies and get money for a night truck at CARE.

Our collecting box is going awesome. People brought in more then we asked for. We only asked for blankets, bowls and if you wanted you could bring in other kinds of things for dogs. We are the most happy people in the world.

Action

As part of our exhibition we have to do an action to help our topic. We have two different actions that we are going to make.

The first one is an idea that we got on our field trip to CARE. We found a list of things that people can bring in to help. We chose two things on it and we want to make a post in the Tiger so that people will bring the stuff in. This will be good because we are helping people that helps dogs. It is sustainable because the things will last for a long period.

Since we don`t want to only do charity raising we wanted to do something that will educate people about street dogs so we are making a book. We have lots of chapters like facts, stories and more. This will last for long time and anyone can read it because we will make it available in the primary and secondary library.

We think that our action will make a different and it will last long. We will help dogs and educate people. We hope that our action will start this week and will be done in time.

Our Field Trip To CARE

For our field trip we went to an animal shelter called CARE. They are an organisation based on a dog called Charlie. They have 120 dogs in their care right now. They get about 25 calls a day but only about 10 are actual things they can solve.

They can't help all problems so all the different shelters work together. CARE has all different cures for illnesses and injured dogs. The most common problem for a street dog is called tick fever. It is these little bugs that sit on them and suck out their blood.

Interesting Facts

These are some interesting facts that we found during our research:

There are at least five times as many homeless animals than people.

There are more than 30 million street dogs in India

500 tonnes of rubbish are left lying around uncollected every day in Mumbai alone. The street dogs in these areas choke to death on trash or eats something indigestible that can leave the dog to die slowly in agony.
Bites and rabies from street dogs has caused around 20,000 human deaths each year.

Field Trip Plan

In our street dogs group we are planning to go to charlies animal rescue center. We want to go on the 11 march which is a Saturday. We want to go on a weekend because we can stay at the centre longer and we won't need a limit of time. We are planning to ask questions like: what do you feed them?  What is the most common condition they come in? What is the most common breed? How many dogs do you have in your care right now?etc.......
